German anti corruption watchdog criticises key government vaccine body for links to big pharma
Berlin : A German anti-corruption watchdog said on Monday that majority of members of a key German government vaccine advisory body have links with the pharmaceutical industry, and are being influenced by the pharmaceutical industry to recommend a "swine flu" mass vaccination campaign.
Transparency International said that the pharmaceutical industry appears to be using the "swine flu" mass vaccination campaign to sell its drugs.
It said the decision to implement a mass "swine flu" vaccination campaign was "not transparent". In particular, the group criticised the German government for failing to inform people about the "swine flu" mass vaccination campaign in 1976 the USA and the fact that it had to be abandoned because of deaths and injury due to the drug.
Transparency International also criticised the European Medicines Agency, noting that two thirds of the funding it receives is from the pharmaceutical industry.Source
